Sudha Murty (born August 19, 1950) is an Indian author, philanthropist, and engineer. A gold-medalist graduate in Electrical Engineering from B.V.B. College and the first woman engineer at TELCO, she earned her MTech in Computer Science from IISc Bangalore.

She co-founded Infosys Foundation in 1996 and serves as chairperson of the Murty Trust and Infosys Foundation, supporting healthcare, education, rural development, libraries and the arts. A prolific writer in English and Kannada, she has authored over 40 books including Three Thousand Stitches, Dollar Bahu, Grandma’s Bag of Stories, and Wise and Otherwise, with over 6 million copies sold.

Recognitions include Padma Shri (2006), Padma Bhushan (2023), Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar (2023), R.K. Narayan Award (2006), Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award (2020), Attimabbe Award (2010), and multiple honorary doctorates. In March 2024, she was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in recognition of her social contributions.
